⚠ PHP2Shell alert — 9.2 Critical
  • CVSS 9.2
  • CRITICAL
  • Urgency HIGHEST
  • Actively exploited

Updated Oct 28, 2026

PHP2Shell — CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619

Affects PAN-OS on PA-Series and VM-Series firewalls and on Panorama (virtual and M-Series). The risk surface is the management interface. Risk is highest when that interface is reachable from the internet.

Unaffected: Strata Cloud Manager, Prisma Access, Cloud NGFW, Cortex XSIAM, Cortex XDR, Cortex XSOAR, GlobalProtect, and the rest of the products listed in the advisory. WildFire Cloud and Cortex XCORE (SaaS) were affected earlier. Palo Alto Networks patched WildFire Cloud on Oct 22 and Cortex XCORE (SaaS) on Oct 21.

Do this now

  1. Check whether your firewall or Panorama management interface is reachable from the internet.
  2. If it is, restrict management access right away to trusted internal IPs or a jump box only.
  3. Check your PAN-OS version against the advisory and apply the hotfix that has already shipped for it.
  4. If your version's hotfix isn't out yet, plan to apply it as soon as it's released (remaining ones are due by Oct 30) and keep management access restricted until then.

Positioning

Lead with three platforms

Strata, Prisma SASE, and Cortex are the motions most first meetings turn on. Identity, cloud, AI runtime, and observability stay in the full pillar grid below.

Strata

Network Security

ML-powered next-generation firewalls from branch to data center, managed through a single cloud-native control plane.

Sell to the network and security teams who still own campus, data center, and OT. SASE covers users. It does not replace those environments.

Prisma SASE

Secure access

Network security, SD-WAN, secure browser, and AI-powered DLP, converged into one cloud-delivered service.

Sell to the team replacing VPN or a web-only SSE for remote users, branches, contractors, and BYOD. The budget often sits with the CIO or VP of Infrastructure.

Cortex

SecOps

XSIAM unifies SIEM, SOAR, XDR, ASM, and threat intel into one AI-driven SOC. Cortex XDR is the endpoint.

Sell to the CISO and SOC leader on Splunk, QRadar, Sentinel, or CrowdStrike — too many consoles, alert volume the team cannot clear, MTTR measured in hours.

Also on the platform, when the pain is not one of those three: Cortex Cloud for cloud posture and runtime, Prisma AIRS for AI workloads, Idira for human, machine, and AI-agent identity, and Chronosphere for observability.
